BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.4  HARVESTA  ($2.50 with TAB)

Gold Coast galloper HARVESTA is three starts into this campaign and dropping back to country class today, looks a strong winning chance. Last start, the Valentia gelding ran home strongly to beat all but one home in a Class 1 Plate over 1700m on his home track. He covered the last 600m, 2.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Based on that effort, he looks ready for the step up in trip today and while making his Lismore debut, his current form suggests he can give this real shake.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.4  DAEDALUS  ($8 with TAB)

The Matt Dunn-trained DAEDALUS has a resume that suggests he has what it takes to roll the topweight and hot favourite (Brazen Breccia) for this race today. Last start, the Rothesay gelding finally shook the Maiden monkey when he broke through, here on a Heavy 10 over 1310m. He ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 3.9 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up. He also posted the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Matty McGuren has found the podium with the five-year-old on four occasions (without winning) from his six previous rides and will no doubt be out to bring up his first win on the galloper today. He maps to settle better than mid-field from gate seven while our race favourite has to it all from gate 13 (of 14) while carrying 3kgs more than our race tip. Boasting a strong track record here, Daedalus has what it takes to take home the chocolates today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.4  YARRINUP FLYER  ($9 with Palmerbet)

The Jim Jarvis-trained YARRINUP FLYER enjoyed a successful preparation when last in work and second-up here today looks a real threat to this field. Last start, the Helmet mare was resuming from a lengthy eight-month absence when she finished mid-field in a BM58 Hcp over 1400m at Taree. Back on top of the ground today, she is a three-time winner on dry tracks and a two-time winner when second-up. Stephen Traecey has enjoyed 15 rides on the mare for two wins and two minor placings and has the job again today. Ideally drawn in gate two, she gets the gun-run and maps to be box-seating on settling. She looks the goods here at great odds.
