BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.4  REGGIE’S BOY

The Angela Davies trained REGGIE’S BOY is in great touch this time in and with all boxes ticked here he looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Your Song gelding came off a good win (here on a Heavy 8) when he finished a close-up third in a BM68 over 1350m on a Heavy 10 at Wyong. He has shown consistency this preparation by finishing top-four in all five starts to date and after steering him to that Muswellbrook win, Mitch Stapleford returns for today’s assignment. The five-year-old is a proven mudlark and is unbeaten in three starts at this track and distance. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle better than mid-field and in conditions he relishes, he looks the best of the day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.5  CALL ME TERRY

The Cameron Crockett-trained CALL ME TERRY took just two starts to know what its all about and looks well placed here to go on with it today. Last start, the Territories gelding learnt from his debut run at Mudgee and improved enough to take out a 1280m Maiden on this track on a Heavy 8 that day. Slowly away, he settled mid-field with Ash Morgan in the saddle and in the run home, went stride for stride with I Am Breathing but proved too strong in the end. He handled the conditions well and appeared to have something left so the extra distance looks ideal today. Morgan steers the ship again and all things going well here, he looks in store for back-to-back wins here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No.12  PULL THE TAIL

Down in the weights here, the Sue Grills-trained PULL THE TAIL comes off a 12-week spell today and boasting solid first-up stats, looks set for a bold performance in this contest. Last start, the Starspangledbanner mare ended her last campaign by beating all but one home in a BM66 over 1000m on her home track at Tamworth. From her seven starts in that preparation, she missed a podium finish just once (being on a Good track at Scone). This mare relishes the wet tracks, with all three career wins coming on the damp surface and finishing on the podium on seven other occasions. She is already a winner when first-up and finished runner-up twice from three previous starts at the track and trip. Apprentice, Jack Baker is the new pilot and after his claim, the five-year-old carries just 53.5kgs for the event, 2.5kgs under the limit. There is plenty to like about her chances today and she is well worth an each-way ticket here.
