Race 1:  No.3  LOVELY THOUGHTS 

Locally-trained by Jason Deamer, LOVELY THOUGHTS has found her mojo this time in and looks the best of the day. Last start, punters sent out the So You Think mare a white-hot $1.16 favourite and she didn’t disappoint, winning the Class 1 contest over 2105m at Tuncurry. Ben Looker had her in the box seat on settling and on the turn, eased her off the fence and said her goodbyes to the rest of them, going on to win by a tick under 10 lengths on the line. Ash Morgan steers the ship for this assignment and from gate two, could be box-seating again. Surely just bad luck beats her here today.

Race 6:  No.3  DAS KAPITAL 

Ciaron Maher saddles-up DAS KAPITAL here who is three starts into this campaign and down in grade today, looks a serious player for victory in this contest. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding came off his Maiden win at Gosford when he stepped up and took on a BM65 field which proved to be a bridge too far, finishing mid-field in the 1400m event on the Canberra track. The 1400m and 58kgs that day took its toll as he finished almost five lengths from the winner that day. Brock Ryan is the new pilot today as the three-year-old drops back to BM58 company and a shorter distance as well. At his peak after three runs back, he is sure to be there at the finish.

Race 7:  No.7  DON’TCHA THINK

In the most open race on the card, we run with the Stephen Jones-trained DON’TCHA THINK who is second-up today and looks a major contender for the big prize in this contest. Last start, the well-bred So You Think gelding resumed after six months in the paddock where he beat all but one home in a BM58 over 1000m at Tamworth. Ridden an absolute treat by Darryl McLellan, he box-seated to the turn where the split came and he hit line strongly to be beaten just half length in the end. He will strip fitter today and has McLellan sticking with him for the assignment. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to be box seating again and with the extra ground here, he should play a major role in the outcome today.
