BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.5  WILD BEAU  ($4.40 with Bet Right)

Bjorn Baker saddles-up two here as we run with WILD BEAU to get the job done over his stablemate (Line Of Law) today. Last start, the Brazen Beau gelding was third-up and fit enough to clobber his Maiden rivals as he put two lengths on them in the 900m sprint at Queanbeyan. Andrew Calder had his first ride on the gelding that day and has the pilot’s cap again in this contest. Fourth-up here, he should be at his peak now while his stablemate resumes from a five-month absence, carrying topweight as well. He has more boxes ticked here and really looks the testing material today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.2  SCOFFA  ($5 with bet365)

Goulburn galloper, SCOFFA, sees the Orange track for the first time today and in top-shelf form of late, brings strong claims to make it a winning track debut. Last start, the Bon Hoffa gelding was second-up when he made it consecutive podium finishes when he beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1000m at Corowa. He drops sharply in grade here and welcomes back Shaun Guymer who has found the podium with him in both previous rides. Perfectly drawn in gate three today, he maps to settle just off the speed and should have cover from there. Already a winner when third-up, he looks right in the mix here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3:  No.6  BARRY THE POET  ($5 with bet365)

The Brett Thompson-trained BARRY THE POET is in great touch this time in and sporting a major gear change today, looks well placed to record his second win in three starts. Last start, the Great Choice gelding came off a solid win at Dubbo when he stepped-up sharply in grade and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth (in a 13-strong field) against Class 2 company over 1600m at Warren. He was last on the turn and finished strongly to be just one length from the winner across the line. The step-up to the 2100m here looks ideal for him now as Thompson removes the winkers and puts the blinkers back on him for this assignment. Clay Gallagher has ride number seven on the five-year-old today and at his peak after five starts back, he should prove hard to hold out here.
