BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.2 WHERE’S THE FIRE ($3 with Bet Right)
Matt Dunn saddles-up WHERE’S THE FIRE here who is second-up and shooting for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding resumed from a six-month absence and hit the ground running, breaking through for his Maiden win over 1100m at Grafton. With Ash Morgan on board that day, he made light work of the wet track as he put 2.5 lengths on them over the line. He ran his last 600m, 1.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He has drawn the outside gate here but that shouldn’t play a major part in the small field. Morgan sticks with him today and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to hold out.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.3 FIRE UP BRUCE ($5 with BlueBet)
Grafton galloper FIRE UP BRUCE sees the Port Macquarie track for the first time today and improving with every start this preparation, he looks a serious contender in this contest. Last start, the Furnaces gelding beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1175m on his home track. He ran an honest race, just found one better on the day. He ran that trip out, 5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this field. From gate five, he maps to settle just behind the speed here and with three starts behind him this time in, he should be rock-hard fit and ready to rock today. Cejay Graham is aboard for her second ride on the four-year-old (after finding the podium with him two starts back at Ballina). With a trouble-free run here, he looks in the mix today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.5 DAEDALUS ($7.50 with Ladbrokes)
Matt Dunn and Ash Morgan team-up again here with DAEDALUS who ticks enough boxes here to make life interesting and put him in with a winning chance today. Last start, the Rothesay gelding showing plenty of improvement off his first three runs this time in when he beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over the mile at Ipswich. With Morgan on board that day, he came from mid-field on the turn and took over inside the final 100m, only to be out-bobbed on the line, beaten a nose. He drops back in grade today and has Morgan remaining in the saddle for this assignment. He gets the gun-run from gate one again and rock-hard fit for four starts back, he looks good value in this contest.
