Queanbeyan Tips for Tuesday, January 24

Our form expert provides Queanbeyan tips for today’s horse racing at Queanbeyan Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.5  AGONY AUNT  ($2.30 with BoomBet)

The locally-trained AGONY AUNT has come back in top-shelf form and has strong claims to take this contest out today. Last start, the All Too Hard mare was second-up when she clobbered her rivals in a 900m Maiden on this track. Matthew Cahill had her box-seating to the turn, then secured a rails run on straightening and she raced away to win by two lengths on the line. She drops 3kgs today as Cahill sticks with her for this assignment. Drawn in gate four, she maps to be on the speed again and with a similar run to last start, she can give this a real shake today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.1  PINK PANTHER  ($2.90 with Picklebet)

The Joe Cleary-trained PINK PANTHER is high flying this time in and ticks all the boxes here to suggest he will be hard to beat in this contest. Last start, the Real Impact gelding was third-up and coming off a big win (here on a Heavy 8) when he franked that effort by going back-to-back and destroying a BM58 field, here over the 1600m trip. With Ruby Scott on board, he carried 59.5kgs to lead on settling, then said goodbye to them on straightening as he left the rest to fight out the minors, crossing the line almost four lengths ahead of them. He has 62kgs to deal with today (after Scott’s claim) but has successfully carried similar weights in the past. Unbeaten in three starts at the track and distance, he maps to settle near the speed again from gate four and at his peak here, should prove hard to hold out.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.7  PICASSO’S DREAM  ($5 with Ladbrokes)

Bjorn Baker saddles-up PICASSO’S DREAM here who is yet to miss a podium finish in four starts and looks in the mix here to keep that record intact today. Last start, the Capitalist filly broke through for her first win as she clobbered the 10-strong field over 1200m at Canberra. With Kayla Nisbet aboard, she settled three-wide (with cover), then peeling off heels on the turn, Nisbet said go, and away went the three-year-old, crossing the line 2.5 lengths ahead of them. She gets the gun-run today from gate one and has Nisbet steering the ship again. With a trouble-free run here, she will take beating again.
