ANCHOR  BET

Race 7:  No.5  FAY FAYE

Local galloper, FAY FAYE, has exploded onto the scene, winning the past three of her four career starts and looks all but certain to do it all again today. Last start, the Spill The Beans mare was first-up after an 18-week break when she picked up where she left off last preparation, Lining-up in a set-weights Class over 1050m, she made it look easy as she led from barrier to box, putting two lengths on them over the line. Meeting similar company over the same trip today, it’s hard to see her getting beaten here. In from $2 yesterday, she is skinny with the bagmen but looks a solid anchor for your multis today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.5  KNOWITALL JACK

Ricky Vale and Ryan Wiggins team-up again here with KNOWITALL JACK who is in top-shelf form after four starts back and looks well placed on his new home track to score another win today. Previously with the James Ponsonby stable at Hawkesbury, the Pierro gelding has managed four-straight podium finishes for his new stable and has clearly settled in nicely on the Capricorn Coast. Last start, he was shooting for a hat-trick at Mackay but was denied by half a length when he finished second in a BM55 Hcp over the 1560m trip. He gets to stretch out on the much bigger Callaghan Park track today as he steps-up slightly in grade but has Ryan Wiggins returning for this assignment after steering him to victory three starts back. Wiggins should have him settled just behind the speed today and will take advantage of the long run home to reel in the leaders. At his peak after four starts back, the eight-year-old can get the job done here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.3  BICEPS

The Damien Rideout-trained BICEPS has come back in top-shelf form and looks a solid winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Fighting Sun mare came off consecutive minor placings where she went one better and third-up, broke through for her maiden win over 1200m at Mackay. At any old odds ($17), she settled mid-field, behind the six-horse battle up front and took full advantage of the speed they set. Turning for home, she came down the centre of the track and simply finished right over the top of them, going on to win by 1.5 lengths on the line. She drops back to the 1050m here but the 620m home straight at Callaghan Park will compensate for that as Justin Huxtable takes the reins for the first time. If she can reproduce that last start effort, she can give this a real shake at odds today.
