BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.2  MAGIC SHADOW  ($4.85 with BoomBet)

Having his second start today, the Maher & Eustace-trained MAGIC SHADOW impressed on debut and looks well placed here to go one better in this contest. Last start, the Per Incanto gelding drew the fence but still had no early speed and settled last, three lengths behind the rest. Taking the turn as the widest runner, Louise Day asked him for an effort and in the run home, he passed all but one to take home second prize in the 1200m Maiden on Newcastle’s Beaumont track. He was doing his best work over the final 100m so the extra distance will surely suit. He does no early work from gate three but should be powering home again. Day sticks with him and with a trouble-free run today, he looks the one they have to hold out.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.9  ACCREDITED  ($5 with Picklebet)

Joe Pride saddles-up ACCREDITED here who receives plenty of favours today and looks right in the mix. Last start, the All Too Hard gelding was up against it from the start as he drew the outside gate (14) and as expected, was trapped four and five wide to the turn. Rory Hutchings did the best he could under the circumstances and to his credit, he managed to steer the gelding into fourth place across the line. Hutchings has the job again today where he leaves the gates from barrier three and maps to be mid-field (with cover) on settling. Already a winner at the track and rock-hard fit from three runs this time in, we should be seeing a different horse today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.6  ATLANTIC OCEAN  ($7 with Neds)

The Chris Waller-trained ATLANTIC OCEAN has been on his game at his past two starts and he looks well placed here to make it three-straight podium finishes in this contest. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding came off a win here in a BM64 event when he stepped-up to BM72 company and on a wet track, finished third over the 1500m journey. Kerrin McEvoy has ridden him once previously and returns for today’s assignment. His resume shines with potential today as he is already a two-time winner at the track and distance and has scored on a dry track as well. Ideally drawn in gate three today, he maps to settle better than mid-field and given a clear run to the line, he should be there at finish. He looks well worth an each-way ticket here.
