Geelong Racing Tips 19 June 2026 — can the yard own the 2yo?

Geelong racing tips for Friday, 19 June: the stable angle I cannot ignore

There are meetings where the form screams at you, and meetings where one simple question does the heavy lifting. Geelong today is the second type: do you want to stand in front of Price and Kent when they bring a juvenile to this track?

They do not just “go to Geelong” and hope. They win here. From 14 runners at the course they’ve landed 6 winners and placed 11, which is the sort of strike you usually associate with a stable targeting a circuit, not dabbling. That matters even more with the two-year-olds on debut, where you’re betting on intent as much as talent.

We have a compact card of two maiden plates on the turf. No odds feed was available at publish time for Geelong odds, so this is a pure form and setup read. If you want Geelong racing tips that cut straight to likely intent and who gets the right run, you’re in the right place.

Geelong — the setup

We’re on turf, and with the fields made up of lightly raced maidens, I’m weighting barriers and running style more than historical track splits. Limited course form across today’s fields: most runners have one or two starts here, so treat any “track record” as a note, not a badge.

Race-by-race: Geelong predictions

Race 1: Ladbrokes Big Bets Copy Now Mdn Plate — 13:00, 1340m

The question here is simple: who’s the maiden that’s done enough to deserve to stop running into minor money and start winning? I’m siding with Tagamate (gate 4, B Rawiller) because the profile screams “ready”: his recent form line 8-46233 is the kind of sequence that belongs to a horse holding form and finding his level, and the draw gives Rawiller options to either land one-one or box seat if they overcook it early.

He’s also been to Geelong twice already and while he hasn’t nailed it (average finish around midfield), those runs matter because he’s not guessing at the circuit today. Two starts is still just a data point, but it beats debuting blind on a track that can punish poor positioning.

The danger is Somersault (gate 8, Jordan Childs). That form 6223-4 says he’s always around the mark, and Childs rides Geelong well enough to make a wide draw less of a death sentence than it looks. If the speed backs off mid-race and it becomes a dash from the 600m, Somersault is the horse I can see getting the last crack.

Staking: Win bet Tagamate. Smaller saver quinella with Somersault if you want protection against the late closer.

Race 2: The Man Walk Geelong Mdn Plate — 13:30, 1230m

This is the race where I want to be decisive. Boom Boss (gate 2) lands in the hands of the one stable that treats Geelong like a target: Price and Kent have a serious record here, winning 6 of 14 and placing 11 of 14. That is not “nice stats”, that’s a pattern built on enough runners to respect.

From a low draw, Logan Bates should be able to put Boom Boss right where you want a debutant over 1230m: close enough to the speed to avoid traffic, but not burning petrol early. With no market to guide us, I’m happy to let intent and setup do the talking.

Who can beat him? Gold Chalice (Craig Williams) is the obvious threat because Williams is a Geelong specialist by any normal definition: five rides here, three wins. He rides this place like he owns the turn. Gold Chalice’s trainer M W Walker also brings a small but strong Geelong record (3 runners, all 3 placed, with a win among them), and that’s enough to take seriously even if it’s still a modest sample.

One more for the multiples: Vixen Vibes (Declan Bates) comes off a debut second and gets a light enough set-up at 1230m to be in the finish again.

Staking: Win bet Boom Boss. Exacta saver Boom Boss over Gold Chalice. If the tote drifts and you’re getting overs, you can play a small each-way on Gold Chalice as the “jockey edge” runner.

Where the money goes

I’m not trying to be clever at Geelong today. With no odds feed available, you either trust a strong intent angle or you sit on your hands. My best bet is Boom Boss in Race 2, because the stable’s Geelong record is the one piece of evidence on the page that comes from a proper sample. Fourteen runners, six winners, eleven placings: they don’t miss often here.

The value angle is Gold Chalice as a saver, purely because Craig Williams does this track better than almost anyone on the card and he’s the sort of rider who can win a maiden with positioning alone. For a “banker” in multis, I’d still lean to Boom Boss because the barrier keeps him out of trouble and the yard’s placement reads confident.

Each-way players can make a case for Tagamate in Race 1 if the market gives you something fair, because he’s holding form and Rawiller rides Geelong with a solid enough strike over volume. One course angle to keep an eye on next time: when Price and Kent bring a youngster to Geelong, treat it as a proper move, not a day trip.

FAQ

What time does racing start at Geelong today?

Geelong kicks off at 13:00 with the Ladbrokes Big Bets Copy Now Maiden Plate (1340m).

Who are the top trainers and jockeys at Geelong on today’s card?

On meaningful course volume, M Price & M Kent Jnr are the standout stable at Geelong: 14 runners for 6 wins and 11 placings. In the saddle, Craig Williams has an elite Geelong record from his last five rides (3 wins), and riders like B Rawiller and Jordan Childs also bring plenty of Geelong experience (22 and 15 rides respectively).

What are the best bets at Geelong today?

Boom Boss (Race 2, 13:30) is the bet I want to build around because he’s from the Price and Kent stable that wins regularly at Geelong and he draws gate 2. In Race 1, Tagamate (13:00) appeals as the on-form runner with Rawiller and a kinder draw than the main danger.

Where can I find the best odds for Geelong races?

Shop around across the major bookmakers and the tote, because prices can vary a lot in maiden races. At publish time, there was no live bookmaker odds feed available for this meeting in our data, so check your preferred book and the on-course tote closer to jump for the sharpest Geelong odds.
