Kilmore Racing Tips 6 March 2026 — can Maher land another?

Aaron Hamilton Aaron Hamilton

Kilmore — the one angle I can’t ignore

One trainer, one runner, and a track stat that actually means something even in a small sample: Ciaron Maher brings Il Cielo to Kilmore and he’s already won with his only runner here. That doesn’t make him a “track specialist” (one run never does), but it does tell you something about intent — when Maher turns up to this meeting, it’s usually because the horse fits the assignment.

That’s the lens for today’s Kilmore racing tips (6 March 2026). We’re on turf, we’ve only got four races in the provided data set, and the card is heavy on maidens — the type of meeting where barriers, settling positions, and who gets the clean run matter more than any shiny historical percentage. I’ll keep it practical: who looks ready, who maps to get their chance, and where I’d actually put money down (or keep it in my pocket).

Kilmore — the setup

Limited course form across today’s fields — most runners have one or two starts here, so it’s more “data point” than trend. The jockey stats are a bit more usable: Will Gordon has had seven rides at Kilmore for one win and five placings, which is enough volume to take seriously in these kinds of races where decision-making wins you lengths.

Race-by-race — Kilmore predictions

Race 1: Bet365 Same Race Multi Mdn Hwt — 14:00, 1750m

City Wok is the horse I want onside early because the profile screams “about to win one of these” rather than “professional maiden.” The formline reads 4-6562 — not flashy, but it’s a horse that has found the line recently and now gets a trip where grinding matters. He also comes with a handy Kilmore reference: placed on his only start here (ran second), which is enough to say he handles the circuit.

There’s a small warning label: the draw (11) asks the rider to make a call early. If D M Parker drifts back and gets stuck wide in a staying maiden, you can tear up your ticket by the 600m. I’d rather see him roll into a spot midfield with cover and let the race come to him.

The danger is Sensesational Star purely on map mechanics. Gate 1 in a maiden at 1750m can make a horse look better than it is — cheap metres, cheap energy. If they crawl mid-race, the rail-runner can pinch it.

Staking: Win bet City Wok. If you like a saver, keep it simple and save on Sensesational Star for the “soft lead/soft run” scenario.

Race 2: Coulter Legal Hwt (Bm56) — 14:30, 1750m

The market problem here is usually weight, but I’m going the other way: Il Cielo looks like the right horse even lugging 159.8. He’s in actual form (55-412), and Maher doesn’t need multiple chances to place one well. Over the last 90 days he’s gone three runs for one win and two placings, which is the sort of consistency you want in a benchmark where half the field is either out of form or out of legs.

And yes — it’s only one start at Kilmore — but it was a win. That’s enough to say the track doesn’t knock him around.

Haiiro is the one I’m most worried about. The form (221-) tells you he’s been beating up his grade, and he gets in with 157.6 as a 3yo. If he measures up physically against older horses, he’s the blowtorch late.

For value players, Tarshin (draw 2, light weight 144.4) can run a race. He’s placed on his only Kilmore run and arrives off an 890-52 pattern that suggests he’s at least turned the corner. He won’t win often, but he’ll give you a sight.

Staking: Win bet Il Cielo. Exacta saver Il Cielo over Haiiro if you’re playing exotics.

Race 3: Arilla Retirement Village Mdn Plate — 15:00, 1586m

This is a maiden where the shape matters more than anything: plenty of unknowns, a few with one run, and a couple with “I’ve had my chance” form. I want the one who has already shown they can sustain a run at race speed. That’s Fully Funded.

He’s had one start for a second and, in the context of a Kilmore maiden, that’s often the difference between “needs to learn” and “ready to execute.” He also gets Lachlan Neindorf — and while the track sample is small, it’s hard to ignore that Neindorf has ridden two winners from two rides at Kilmore. You don’t build a life-long theory off it, but you can absolutely treat it as a green light that the kid rides the place well.

The main threat is Belle Flamme. She’s already shown ability (3-7) and now gets John Allen, a rider who has enough Kilmore volume (two rides) to at least say he’s not learning the track today. If Belle Flamme gets the right run from gate 5, she can outclass them late.

Among the debutantes, Miss Camelot (Jason Warren) and Panda’s Spectrum (Hayes stable) have to be respected — but in these races I’d rather back what I’ve seen than what I’ve imagined.

Staking: Win bet Fully Funded. If the price is skinny, consider a straight quinella with Belle Flamme and move on.

Race 4: Rivervue Retirement Village Mdn Plate — 15:30, 1586m

Two horses, two different ways to win it. Panelli keeps turning up and running honestly — 52-462 is the profile of a maiden that gets there when the race is run to suit. The booking of Dylan Dunn reads like intent as well: when you see a stable (Nichols/Black) pair a proven metro hoop with a horse that’s already been around the mark, it’s rarely for a sightseeing tour.

But I’m siding with Tag Time because the form says he’s closer than Panelli looks on paper. He’s gone 4-3 in his two runs, and that kind of progression in lightly raced horses tends to hold up at Kilmore — they can absorb pressure, and they don’t need the race to fall apart. He also draws to get a stalk-and-pounce run from gate 6 with H Coffey, which suits this trip.

Mahmudah is the danger for the each-way punter. She’s been around the money lately (44-743) and, in a race without a stack of upside, a tough older mare can simply outlast them when the youngsters over-race.

Staking: Win bet Tag Time. Small saver on Panelli if you’re worried about the “race fitness and toughness” edge.

Where the money goes

NAP: Il Cielo (Race 2, 14:30). Recent form is the best on the card in this data set (three runs in the last 90 days for a win and two placings) and he’s already proven he handles Kilmore by winning on his only visit.

Value: Tarshin (Race 2). Light weight, good gate, and he’s placed on his only start at the track — the kind of horse that can outrun “plain” recent form if the race shape is kind.

Banker for multis: Fully Funded (Race 3, 15:00). One run, one strong result (second), and he gets Neindorf who has already ridden winners here — I’d rather trust that than roll the dice with debutantes.

Each-way angle: City Wok (Race 1). He’s trending the right way (last start second) and he’s already placed on his only Kilmore run.

Course angle to file away: Will Gordon keeps popping up across the meeting and he hits the frame regularly at Kilmore (five placings from seven rides). Watch how often he puts his mounts into the race early here — it’s a track where that decision can win you the day.

FAQ — Kilmore best bets, odds & timings

What time does racing start at Kilmore today?

Racing kicks off at 14:00 with the Bet365 Same Race Multi Maiden Heavyweight over 1750m.

Who are the top jockeys at Kilmore on today’s card?

On the available Kilmore numbers for riders engaged today: Will Gordon has seven rides here historically and has finished in the placings five times. Lachlan Neindorf has ridden at Kilmore twice and won both rides (small sample, but it’s a tidy pointer).

Who are the top trainers at Kilmore on today’s card?

Trainer stats are thin for today’s runners, but one stands out for intent: Ciaron Maher has only had one runner at Kilmore and it won — and he’s represented by Il Cielo in Race 2.

What are the best bets at Kilmore today?

My Kilmore best bets from this meeting are Il Cielo (Race 2, 14:30) as the main play and Fully Funded (Race 3, 15:00) as the safer multi anchor. If you want a price swing, I’d rather speculate on Tarshin in Race 2 than guess in the debut-heavy maidens.

Where can I find the best odds for Kilmore races?

Shop around with the major Australian bookies and exchanges close to jump — prices move sharply in these maiden-heavy Kilmore meetings. Odds weren’t available in the feed for these four races at publish time, so treat any early quote as a placeholder and re-check nearer the first.
