Taree Racing Tips 21 April 2026 — can Blue Dane make it three straight?

There’s a proper little storyline at Taree today: Blue Dane turns up chasing a hat-trick, and the way he’s been doing it suggests he’s not done yet. Two wins on the bounce is one thing. Doing it while still landing in the right races, and not looking like he’s reached his ceiling, is the part that gets punters leaning forward.

We’ve got five races on the Turf, and while there isn’t loads of deep “track specialist” evidence across the fields, there are enough course hints, stable patterns, and map edges to build a card around. These Taree racing tips are written like you’d talk it through with a mate: who’s ready to win, who’s a danger, and where the bet is actually worth making.

Taree — the setup

Going info hasn’t been provided in the racecards, so I’m treating this as a standard Taree turf day and leaning on race shape, barriers, and current form arcs rather than guessing a bias.

Limited course form across today’s fields. Most runners have only one or two starts here, so I’m using course stats as a nudge rather than the whole argument.

Jockeys worth respecting at Taree (5+ rides sample):

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Deon le Roux 11 1 7 9.09 63.64
Jenny Duggan 17 2 7 11.76 41.18
Liberty Smyth 17 2 7 11.76 41.18
M Bennett 12 1 5 8.33 41.67
William Stanley 5 1 2 20.00 40.00
G Buckley 23 5 9 21.74 39.13
Anna Roper 16 2 6 12.50 37.50
B Looker 14 2 5 14.29 35.71
MS K Adams 21 3 7 14.29 33.33

Trainers with meaningful volume at Taree: K A Lees has the deepest body of work on the card with 18 runners at the track for 4 wins and 8 placings. Glen Milligan also turns up regularly (19 runners), while P Cheers has numbers but hasn’t converted them here (22 runners for 0 wins, 2 placings).

Race-by-race — Taree predictions

Race 1: Sky International Mdn Hcp — 13:15, 1101

Love You Anyway is the one I want onside early. Six-year-olds in maidens can be a trap, but this mare’s recent profile is clear: she keeps finding the line and keeps landing in the money. That form string of 36-222 tells you she’s in the zone, and she gets a soft enough weight (125.6) to make the pressure count late.

The map looks kind too. From barrier 4, Shannen Llewellyn should be able to land in the first half without spending. If they overdo it early in a short sprint, she’s the runner you want sweeping into it while others are already feeling the pinch.

The danger is Kissavos, who has been holding his form well (270-23) and draws gate 2 with L P Rolls. He’s the obvious threat if he lands the right trail and gets the first crack at them.

Staking: Win bet Love You Anyway. If you’re playing a quinella, save with Kissavos.

Race 2: Cafe Nosh (Bm58) — 13:50, 1380

This is the sort of Benchmark where one decent run at the track can matter, even if the sample is thin. Toomuchinformation has won on one of his two starts at Taree, and he gets the kind of set-up you can build a bet around: barrier 1, senior positioning, and a weight that says “control the race” rather than “pray for luck”.

He’s also coming in off solid recent work overall, with 4 runs in the last 90 days for a win and a place. That’s not a boom profile, but it’s the right rhythm for a country BM58, and he’s the one most likely to get every favour from the inside alley.

Mad Harry is the danger. The form (023-15) tells you he can sprint off a race and he won’t need much luck from gate 7 if they run it honestly. If he gets cover early and the leaders stack them up, he’s the one who can blow past.

Staking: Win bet Toomuchinformation. Keep Mad Harry as the saver if the market drifts and you want cover.

Race 3: Functions @ Mvrc Country Boosted Mdn Plate — 14:25, 1435

Does this maiden come down to the one who keeps knocking, or the one with the map? I’m leaning to the grinder: Artie’s Magic. He hasn’t won, but he’s doing everything else right, and his recent string (3-2343) reads like a horse who keeps arriving at the right part of the race.

Barrier 11 isn’t perfect, but the upside is he’s not forced into a pocket. B Looker can roll forward, find a line, and keep him building. He’s also been a place-getter in three of his four runs in the last 90 days, which is the best “ready to win” signal in this field.

The main worry is Foxy Prague (09-325) from gate 3. She’s drawn to get the easy stalking run, and if the leaders don’t go hard, that cheap run can beat the better horse.

Staking: Each-way Artie’s Magic (maiden plate, wide gate, you want some insurance). Small saver exacta with Foxy Prague if you play exotics.

Race 4: Xxxx Mdn Plate — 15:05, 1765

The market usually gets seduced by the lightly raced 3YOs stepping up in trip, but the horse with the clearest “I’m about to win a race” profile is Kitsilano. He’s been runner-up twice in his last four (283-83), and while he’s drawn a little awkward in gate 8, he at least comes into this with a repeatable pattern: he holds his spot, he sticks on, and he doesn’t throw in a bad run.

He’s had two goes at Taree without winning, so I’m not calling him anything at the track, but the course stats do say he’s managed to place on one of those two visits. If this turns into a staying grind from the 700m, he’s the one I trust to keep finding.

Optimal Moments (8-2) is the danger and the upside horse. Second-up profiles over further can jump fast, and from gate 2 R Hutchings can put him in the race without burning fuel.

Staking: Win bet Kitsilano if you get a fair price. If he’s short, play him place and keep Optimal Moments as the win saver.

Race 5: Vale Dianne Larter (Bm58) — 15:40, 1380

Here’s the feature betting race for me, because there’s a horse in form, a horse with a touch of Taree history, and a map that should let him do it his way. Blue Dane comes in off a pair of wins (433211) and he’s placed in both of his Taree runs. That’s a proper little emerging pattern: he turns up here and runs well, even if he hasn’t won at the track yet.

I also like what the recent numbers say. Over the last 90 days he’s run six times for two wins and five placings, and that’s the kind of consistency you can lean on in a BM58. He’s not winning by accident and then falling away. He’s staying in the fight every time.

The knock is the gate. Barrier 12 means Shannen Llewellyn needs a plan early, and it probably involves rolling across and sitting outside a leader rather than snagging back and hoping. If they let him cruise without a mid-race squeeze, he can still be the strongest late.

The danger is Casino Collection. He won on his only start at Taree and his last 90 days read seriously well: three runs for a win and he’s placed in all three. If he gets the softer run from gate 7, he’s the one who makes Blue Dane earn it.

Staking: Win bet Blue Dane. Saver quinella with Casino Collection.

The plays

If you’re playing Taree best bets today, I’d build the card around the runners who either keep turning up in the finish or get the map to control their race. Blue Dane is the NAP. Two straight wins, he’s been running to a level that holds up in this grade, and he’s placed in both Taree runs so you don’t need to guess whether he handles the place.

The value angle sits with Artie’s Magic in the 14:25 maiden. He keeps putting himself right there and he’s hit the frame in three of his last four runs in the last 90 days. That’s a horse who just needs the race to fall his way once.

If you want a safer multi anchor, Toomuchinformation maps like the “least excuses” runner on the card: barrier 1, the right weight for a BM58, and he’s already proven he can win at Taree on one of his two visits.

One course angle to keep in mind: K A Lees is the trainer who consistently converts at this track, and he’s got runners through the card again. Watch how their market moves next meeting too, because this stable tends to tell you early when they’ve landed on the right one.

My best bet is Blue Dane in Race 5 (15:40). He comes in chasing three straight (form 433211) and he’s placed in both starts at Taree. The other bet I want in the book is Toomuchinformation in Race 2 (13:50) from barrier 1.
