Golden Rose Stakes Nominations – The Road To The 3YO Feature

Nominations for the 2024 Golden Rose Stakes will be announced closer to the race date, which is Monday, September 16, 2024.

The Golden Rose is a three-year-old feature that can often be a “stallion-making” race for colts that win the event. It is run over 1400m at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.

The final field and barrier draw will be known on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

Is There A Draw Bias in the Golden Rose Stakes?

Looking at the table below, there is a nice mix of winners from a wide-range of barriers. This evidence supports the claim that there is no barrier draw bias in the Golden Rose.

Horses have been successful from as wide as barrier 17 in the past 40 years.

Drawing an inside or middle barrier doesn’t appear to be any different to a horse’s chances in the race.
