BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.1 LANDSBOROUGH LAD ($2.05 with Bet Right)
The David Vandyke-trained LANDSBOROUGH LAD is second-up today and will be (yet again) looking for a way to shake the maiden monkey off his back here. Last start, the Headwater gelding was fresh off a lengthy nine-month break when he fought on well to finish third in a 1200m Maiden at Ipswich, beaten a length on the line. That made it eight minor placings from his nine career starts to date. He is fast becoming compared to the luckless Tom Melbourne who ended his career with no less than 18 minor placings from his 51 starts, 14 of those were silver medals. This can all stop today with a trouble run here and jumping from gate three here will only benefit the galloper. Ryan Maloney sticks with him after four previous rides all ended in podium finishes. He looks set to finally salute today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.6 SECURITY ADVISOR ($4 with Neds)
The Chris Meagher-trained SECURITY ADVISOR is high-flying this time in and after five-straight top-three finishes, he looks well placed here to keep that trend going today. Last start, the Shalaa gelding came off four-straight minor placings when he went one better and took out a Class 1 Hcp over 1800m at Eagle Farm. He ran that trip out, 1.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and a new personal best for him as well. He also ran the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. A late riding change sees Craig Williams in the saddle today and from gate one, the four-year-old gets all the favours as he maps to settle right behind the speed with cover. He has the form on the board here to be considered a serious contender for the major prize today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.3 STORMY ROCK ($15 with Palmerbet)
One for the value-minded punters today is the Matt Dunn-trained STORMY ROCK who ticks enough boxes here to be considered a genuine each-way chance in this contest. Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding found the Class 6 company just a bit too strong on the day, finishing unplaced in the 1200m event on this track. In his defence, he had no luck whatsoever after settling last of the 11 runners. On straightening, Jaden Lloyd kept him on the fence but he was held up several times in search of some fresh air ands by the time he got clear, it was all too late. T his credit, he still hit the line well and was beaten just two lengths on the line. He ran his last 600m, an amazing 10 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 7 lengths and his race sectionals were all faster than the first three across the line. He is a winner at the track and a three-time over the 1200m. Angela Jones is in the saddle for the first time and down in grade today, he (currently) looks a touch overs with the bagmen and is well worth an each-way ticket today.
