BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.5  ALAMIRA  ($2.30 with Ladbrokes)

The Annabel Neasham-trained ALAMIRA is three starts into this preparation and looks the one to beat here. Last start, the Pride Of Dubai filly found the podium for the sixth time in her nine-start career to date when she took home the bronze medal in a Class 3 Plate over 1200m at Ipswich. Travelling three-wide (without cover) to the turn, she did well to cross the line only a length off the winner. She ran the trip out, 1.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this field. Damien Thornton has control today and from gate seven, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen. A winner fourth-up last time in, she only needs a trouble-free run here to pose a serious threat to these today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.9  JEMELDI  ($4 with Neds)

Gold Coast galloper JEMELDI is third-up today and should be ready to bounce back from his last-start loss. The Winning Rupert gelding won first-up off a 15-week spell then last start, found the Doomben Class 4 contest a little rich, finishing mid-field in the 1050m event. Despite the unplaced result, the three-year-old still ran his last 600m, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 4 lengths. Ideally drawn in gate two today, he should find this contest a little easier and after the claim, carries just 54.5kgs. With a trouble-free run here, he could making his track debut a winning one today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.9  LATIN LYRIC  ($5.10 with BoomBet)

Trained at Toowoomba by Josh King, LATIN LYRIC is third-up today and looks ready to stake a claim for victory here. Last start, the Wandjina mare was second-up off a 15-week break when she found the podium, finishing third in a BM70 Hcp over 1300m on her home track. Coming from last on the turn, she ran that trip out, 3.5 lengths slower than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Tessa Townsend returns for her six ride on the mare, enjoying previous success by winning twice on the five-year-old. Stepping up to the mile today looks ideal having already won over the trip and drawn sweetly in gate three today, her credentials suggest her first look at the Gatton track could be a winning one.
