BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.9  GLOBAL SENSATION

The Stirling Osland-trained GLOBAL SENSATION is in great touch this time in and third-up today, looks ready to win. Last start, the well-bred Artie Schiller gelding made it back-to-back runner-up prizes when he beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over 1400m at Armidale with Mikayla Weir aboard. Trapped three-deep for the trip, she still had enough left to grab the lead but her second-up condition gave out and had to settle for second prize that day. Fitter here, she should also appreciate the drop in class as Weir remains in the saddle for this assignment. She maps to settle mid-field from gate seven and with a trouble-free run in transit, she can get the job done today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.6  ALBANJO

Glen Innes galloper, ALBANJO has tasted success here previously and looks set for another victory today. Last start, the Winning Rupert gelding didn’t have a lot going his way when finishing fourth in a BM58 over 1300m at Moree. He drew wide in gate 11 (of 13) which saw Wendy Peel push forward to take up the lead on settling. Setting a solid pace, he was hard ridden on straightening and lumping 60kgs that day, he succumbed to the pressure and weakened to just miss a podium finish (Global Sensation was a fast-finishing second in the race). Meeting similar company today, Cobi Vitler is the new pilot and after his claim, the five-year-old carries 2.5kgs less than last start. Already a winner here, a clear run to the line should be all he needs to make his presence felt in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2:  No.12  TAKEMINE

Locally-trained by Todd Payne, TAKEMINE has been ‘pounding’ on the door for her first win and here, with several gear changes, she gets another chance to break through. Last start, the well-bred Hellbent mare didn’t fare well in the heavy conditions but still managed to take home fourth prize in the 1000m Maiden at Muswellbrook. Rider, Braith Nock steered her towards the outside fence on straightening (in search of firmer ground) where she battled home well from there. Cobi Vitler returns for today’s assignment and after his claim, the mare carries 2kgs less than last start. Yet to finish worse than fifth (in eight starts), it can happen today.
