I am backing I Am Carrot. The profile screams “keeps finding a way”. He comes here as a 3yo with a light weight (116.8) and a gate that actually gives Rachel King options (draw 12) in a race where half the key fancies have to start in the carpark.
It is not just the weight relief. His form line is rock solid: 211-21. That reads like a horse who has learned how to win, not one who flatters to deceive. In a Benchmark 85 over a mile-ish trip, that habit matters.
The obvious horse is Restonica. He has a proper Eagle Farm story (three runs here for two wins), and Pat W Webster has enough volume at this track to trust. But the map is ugly: barrier 21 with 137.7 on his back. He might still be the best animal, yet he is being asked to do it the hard way, and that is not how I want to play a big-field handicap.
The other one I want in your quaddie is Bengal Diamond (draw 3, 126.7). He is in ripping nick on paper (161123) and gets Ben Thompson, who rides this place better than most on real sample size. If Thompson has him one off the fence and rolling before the bend, he can pinch it while the wide gates are still hunting.
Staking: Win bet I Am Carrot. Saver quinella with Bengal Diamond. If you are playing wider exotics, include Restonica purely on class and track record, but accept the barrier tax.
Race 2: Kilcoy Global Foods (Bm85) — 12:18, 1094
This is the race where I actually want to bet properly, because the map and the runners line up.
I am with Tiger Tie. Two starts at Eagle Farm for a win and a placing tells you he handles the circuit, and the setup looks kind: he draws gate 2, carries 128.9, and has enough tactical speed to hold a spot in a sharp 1094.
