Ballarat Tips for Friday, September 22

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 6 No. 5 MANSIERE- ($2.75)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for MANSIERE. The Nick Ryan-trained galloper didn’t quite fire over the 1200m behind the likes of Scentify at Moonee Valley last time and was found to have pulled up with a poor recovery. Form prior to that was excellent with a dominant win in Maiden grade over the 1100m at Bendigo before running a close 3rd in city class at Moonee Valley over the 1000m. The three-year-old drops back to the 1100m for this and is down in grade. Rhys McLeod rides and strikes at 20% for the stable, providing a 16% profit on turnover for punters.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 7 No 1 BELTORO- ($26)

BELTORO lines up at juicy odds in the Gold Nugget at Ballarat and the Robert Hickmott-trained galloper can be a big improver after battling over the 1400m when resuming at Caulfield on September 2. The six-year-old did little in that race when last behind Devoted. In previous second up runs, he has improved between five and 13 lengths on benchmark figures at this stage, which have also been when slightly up in trip. He went from a 5th in a BenchMark 78 at Geelong over the 1400m at his last preparation to a runner-up performance at Flemington on Stakes Day over the 1600m, improving 11.6 lengths in the process. Worth thought at the $26.
