Race 8 No. 3 BECALOTTI – ($4.40)

Perennial #WABlackbookers horse BECALOTTI found herself up against it coming into the last at Ascot Racecourse. The mare was racing first-up while showing good form with a trial win under her belt. There had been no horse win from racing on the pace all day which is where Becalotti settled after spearing forward from her outside alley. They went along quickly out in front with Becalotti racing clear shortly after straightening. Becalotti seemingly had the race shot to bits before shortening stride approaching the 50m. She was claimed late by Sonoftheboss while holding Triple Jay to the line and Becalotti will be further improved for the run.

Race 5 No. 6 NEW MUSIC – ($6)

We marked NEW MUSIC as a horse of interest following a recent review from Ascot Racecourse. The horse hasn’t shown any early speed during her races with William Pike settling New Music towards the back of midfield last start. The pair became shuffled back to last as the pressure came on with Pike searching for runs into the straight. New Music did make ground between horses while racing in limited space to finish behind the placegetters. Goes up to the mile fourth-up after racing over 1400m and is well-drawn towards the middle of the field.

Race 9 No. 7 ZEPHYRA – ($7)

We backed our #WABlackbookers horse Desennea who had a good run in transit last start. Desennea found one better in Oly’s Choice while just holding out the fast-finishing ZEPHYRA. We’re going to have to change horses after watching that race as these two runners meet again. Zephyra was given a lovely trail early before Jordan Turner found his path blocked into the straight. He managed to angle off the mare into the clear by switching off heels inside the furlong. Zephyra charged home to just miss Desennea and run third. Meets that horse better at the weight scale with the market letting us on as an each-way bet in the last at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday.
