BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)  

Race 6 No. 1 RUSSIAN METEOR- ($3.50)

RUSSIAN METEOR can just about make it two wins from as many starts when he steps out in Race 6. The four-year-old made his debut here on August 1 and settled last in the field of 12 before rattling home to score from Snick. Those two put a gap on the 3rd placegetter, Mirroring, who has since come out and won at Bairnsdale. No reason to suggest why he can’t make the transition from Maiden grade and Thomas Stockdale stays on board after partnering him last time. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN) 

Race 4 No 11 PERILOUS FIGHTER – ($4.45)

PERILOUS FIGHTER can get the job done in Race 4 after a last start effort that saw him place 3rd at Sandown on August 9. That came over the 1000m and he loomed up at the 100m only to go down in a blanket finish behind Cavallo Rampante. He went four lengths faster than standard benchmark in that race, which is nearly eight lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. The Clayton Douglas-trained galloper was a bit luckless the only time he raced on the Synthetic. He won’t be too far away in the run from barrier 7.
