BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.2 EXCELLADUS ($4.85 with BoomBet)
Warwick Farm galloper EXCELLADUS is in good touch this time in and sporting some gear changes here, looks a genuine winning chance in this line-up. Last start, the So You Think gelding out in another solid performance when he beat all but one home in a BM78 Hcp, here over 1400m. Leaving gate 11 (of 14), he travelled wide most of the way and caught the leader in the shadows of the post, only to yield right on the line and miss (what looked like) a certain victory. He gets all the favours here drawing gate two and the stable have removed the winkers and replaced them with visors for the first time. Zac Lloyd eases the weight with his 1.5kg claim and with a trouble-free run here, he can take this contest out.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2: No.4 STEP ASIDE ($6 with BlueBet)
The Chris Waller-trained STEP ASIDE has missed just one podium finish in seven career starts and looks well placed here to bounce back. Last start, the Redwood gelding drew the outside gate (11) and was never on the track when he did well to finish fourth in a BM72 Hcp, here over 1300m. He will jump from gate six (of seven) here which shouldn’t pose as big a problem in the small field. His resume reads two wins and four runner-up prizes to date and he gets the chance here to return to the winner’s circle in this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 9: No.4 WEWILLROCK ($6.75 with Bet Right)
The John O’Shea-trained WEWILLROCK has been a model of consistency finishing top-three in 10 of his 12 starts to date and looks well placed here to add another podium finish to his tally. Last start, the El Roca gelding fought like a caged tiger when finishing third in the Listed Bob Charley Stakes, here over 1100m. Trying to lead all the way, he gave his all to hold them off and was only beaten half a length on the line. This is an easier assignment and with Tyler Schiller on board, he looks a serious contender in this contest.
