The locally-trained PIECE OF TURF is high-flying this time in and on her home track today, looks set to take this contest out. Last start, the Albrecht mare came off an impressive first-up win here when she faced city class gallopers in a BM62 over 1110m at Doomben. Settling back in the field, she ran home strongly to beat all but one home, finishing just half a length from victory that day. Ryan Maloney steers the ship for the first time today and in the reduced field (after early scratchings), all she needs here is a clear run to the line to secure career-win number five.

Race 8:  No.1  PRESS LINK

Robert Heathcote saddles-up the well-bred PRESS LINK here who resumes off a 14-week spell and on fresh legs, can get the job done today. Last start, the Press Statement gelding made his racing debut in a 1200m Maiden at Doomben and with Michael Rodd aboard, beat home the 11-strong field. He settled near mid-field and showed plenty of zip in the run home, took advantage of an inside run and hit the line with plenty to spare in the end. He has trialled recently in preparation for this event. Rodd sticks with him today and given a trouble-free run here, he will give this a real shake.

Race 2:  No.3  TRIPLE MONEY

The Paul Shailer-trained TRIPLE MONEY makes the trip up from Port Macquarie again and lines up here in search of back-to-back victories on this track. Last start, the Pins gelding was second-up off a five-month break when he made light work of a BM62, here over 1600m. With Ryan Maloney aboard for the first time, the five-year-old took control inside the final 200m and went on to win by more than a length on the line with 61kgs on his back. This looks no harder and he drops 3.5kgs for this assignment. Maloney sticks with him today and in winning form, he will take beating again.
