BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.1  FIRST PEOPLES

Dale Groves saddles-up FIRST PEOPLES here who sees the Warwick track for the first time and third-up today looks right in the mix. Last start, the Wandjina gelding made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home (again) in a BM65 over 1200m at Ipswich. He drew wide that day in gate nine and on a Heavy 9 track, did well to finish less than a length from victory. Nathan Fazackerley returns to steer the ship after filling a podium spot in all five previous rides and will hellbent of scoring his first win with the six-year-old today. Both career-wins have come on dry tracks and already a winner when third-up, the scene looks set for a big finish today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.4  MILAGRO

The Toowoomba-based MILAGRO is three starts into this campaign and returning to the country scene today, can bounce back for another win in this contest. Last start, the Hallowed Crown mare came off a minor-money finish on this track when she took on a BM65 over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast. It was her first look at a heavy track and finishing unplaced gives the impression that the Heavy 8 got the better of her that day. High and dry sailing today, Justin Huxtable is the pilot as she steps out onto a Good 4 here where she has placed twice in four starts at the track. She drops back in grade today and will need just a little luck from the outside gate. If she can settle near mid-field with cover, she can throw down a serious challenge to victory in this event.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.5  ARTIE BEATSOME

Toowoomba trainer, Nathan Evans has ARTIE BEATSOME engaged here today and unbeaten in two starts this time in, looks a solid chance of landing the hat-trick in this contest. Two starts back, the Flying Artie gelding had his first run for Evans and did well when scoring in a BM55 over 1000m at Goondiwindi. Then last start, he franked that first-up win by going back-to-back and taking out a BM65 at his home track over the 1050m trip. He makes his Warwick debut today and draws well in gate three where he maps to settle just behind the speed (possibly box-seating). Damien Thornton is the new pilot today and with a trouble-free run, in career-best form, the five-year-old can give this a real shake.
