Cranbourne Tips 19/04/2024
BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 3 SACRED INGOT- ($1.75)
It was a promising debut by SACRED INGOT at Ballarat on April 3 and the Busuttin/Young galloper can go one spot better in this race. At Ballarat, the three-year-old was stepping out over the 1400m and did a couple of things wrong in the run but was good enough to run on to fill the exacta, knuckling down to produced the fastest last 200m. He went 3.3 lengths slower than standard, which is the best last start benchmark figure of any runner. The experience from his debut will no doubt be a benefit, as will the slight step up in trip at his home track.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1 No. 4 DEROZARIO- ($3.10)
Going with DEROZARIO in the opener. The local galloper from the Mick Kent yard has had the four career starts and did well in the most recent of those when making the sharp jump from the 1400m to the 2000m. She settled handy but was posted three wide before sticking on behind Infinity Imperial, going 1.6 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is more than five lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. She has the fitness now at her third run back and should be able to save ground this time around from barrier 2.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3 No.7 THINK ROCK – ($3.10)
THINK ROCK can break the Maiden in Race 3. The four-year-old didn’t do much in his first five starts but has come close since switching to the Julius Sandhu stable with two minor placings. He just missed out as the exacta horse behind Sheeza Toronado when resuming and has since stuck on well for 3rd behind Russian Bobshark at Cranbourne. This does look to be a weak race and the son of Jukebox can box seat from barrier 5.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5 No. 2 TACITO- ($4.60)
TACITO can go close in Race 5. The Team Hayes-trained galloper has had the five career starts and has never finished further back than 5th, winning one. He resumed in a BenchMark 64 at Sandown and settled handy in the run before sticking on for 3rd. Second up at his las preparation, the three-year-old improved four-lengths on benchmark figures to place behind Maharba in what turned out to be a soldi form race at Flemington. He won’t be far away in the run and we can expect the son of Showtime to fight out the finish.
